Consortium includes Pixxel, Dhruva Space, and SatSure; PierSight brings sovereign SAR payload expertise

Ahmedabad, India - 12th August, 2025 - PierSight, a space-tech company building a constellation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Automatic Identification System (AIS) satellites for 24/7, all‑weather maritime intelligence, today announced its inclusion in the selected consortium by IN‑SPACe to realize India’s first Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Earth‑Observation (EO) constellation.
The consortium includes Pixxel, PierSight, Dhruva Space, and SatSure.
The PPP program will be designed, built, launched, and operated by the private consortium in India, with government support on strategy and milestones. Within this multi‑sensor constellation architecture, PierSight serves as the consortium’s SAR specialist, enabling dependable day‑night, cloud‑penetrating imaging and analysis‑ready outputs for disaster response, maritime monitoring, oil‑slick detection, urban change, and topography, among others.
“SAR makes the constellation operational 24/7 in all weather conditions. Our role is to deliver radar‑first, analysis‑ready products with low latency, so agencies and enterprises get alerts and evidence, not just raw data,” said Gaurav Seth, Co‑founder & CEO, PierSight.
“This PPP is about outcomes and execution speed. Our modular, software‑defined radar electronics and deployable‑antenna heritage let us iterate quickly and align to IN‑SPACe’s phased milestones,” said Vinit Bansal, Co‑founder & CTO, PierSight.

SAR for disaster response and other critical use‑cases

SAR’s ability to image through cloud cover and at night is vital for emergency operations in events like the recent Uttarakhand cloudburst. It enables rapid flood mapping, landslide detection, infrastructure damage assessment, and breach monitoring—delivering geo‑referenced intelligence to decision‑makers when visibility is otherwise impossible.
Beyond disasters, the constellation’s SAR capability will support:
  • Maritime monitoring and oil‑slick detection across India’s coastline and EEZ.
  • Urban change and topography for monitoring and planning across critical assets in mining, linear infrastructure, energy assets, and subsidence-prone zones.
  • Precision agriculture and monitoring crop health during Kharif season
  • National sovereignty over border intelligence
“In the Indian context, Kharif is a major crop season during which there’s upwards of 90% cloud cover. During this time, SAR offers precision agriculture, and can monitor crop health and yield estimation”, says Gaurav Seth, Co‑founder & CEO, PierSight
“The Government of India has been making major strides in the digitization of public and private assets. SAR can play a huge role in assessing property tax at a national scale, saving time and resources,” says Vinit Bansal, Co‑founder & CTO, PierSight

What PierSight brings

  • Indigenous SAR payload depth. Modular radar electronics and deployable antenna know‑how de‑risk integration and shorten iteration loops.
  • Fast build–test cycles. A reuse‑ready, software‑defined radar architecture accelerates development, qualification, and fielding against PPP milestones.
  • Analysis‑ready data (ARD). PierSight focuses on calibrated, analysis-ready products and higher-value services, rather than raw imagery alone.
  • Operational playbooks for SAR tasking. Rapid retask and multi‑scene fusion approaches help maximize coverage and responsiveness.

Program alignment

Under IN‑SPACe’s PPP framework, the consortium comprising Pixxel, PierSight, Dhruva Space, and SatSure will realize and operate a 12‑satellite EO network supported by India‑based launch, ground, and data infrastructure with an investment of more than ₹1,200 crores.
