Mission Objectives

Varuna is an in-orbit technology demonstrator intended to help achieve flight worthiness of our subsystems for all future missions. On completion of the mission, we will have reach Technological Readiness Level 9 (highest level) for the subsystems.

Varuna has undergone several rigorous tests to ensure it’s mission-ready and capable of meeting the demanding challenges of space.

Deployment Test

We've successfully tested the deployment mechanisms for our antennas, a critical step to ensure they function correctly once in orbit. It was like watching a sci-fi movie, only real – and with more coffee.

Vibration Test

In our recent vibration test, our hardware endured nearly two minutes of rigorous shaking, simulating the jolts of space travel. It passed with flying colors, proving its resilience and readiness for the challenges of the cosmos.

Active Thermal Test

Our electronic power conditioner underwent active thermal testing to simulate the operational environment in space, ensuring it can handle the intense conditions.

Thermo-Vacuum Test

We subjected our components to space environment in thermovaccum chamber, exposing them to the extreme temperatures and vacuum of space to ensure they can perform flawlessly.

Antenna CATF Test

Our indigenously developed reflect array antenna was tested in Compact Antenna Test facility to check the Gain, Beamwidth and other antenna specific parameters.

Sine-Burst Test

Sine Burst (SB) Testing is used for strength testing of space hardware. Our hardware was subjected to burst of strong Vibration with increasing Vibration levels and frequency of vibration.

Our hardware survived 1500g of shock which it will endure in space during deployment of primary payload on launch vehicle.

We subjected our electronics with Electromagnetic Radiation to check performance of the satellite in case of Electromagnetic interference.
